You may or may not have heard, but Hatoful Boyfriend is getting an HD remake on Steam! There is new content and an additional ending. If you haven't played it, you really should. Don't judge a bird by its plumage.
Hatoful Boyfriend is a parody of the dating sim genre, in which the human protagonist goes to an all-bird high school. Bird puns abound. It's a light-hearted romantic comedy...
...except it's really not. The real plot is convoluted and goes far deeper and darker than is possible to explain without major spoilers, and by the time you discover that, dating these birds will be the last thing on your mind.
It's $10 for the regular edition and $15 for the collector's edition, and if you order before the release date of August 21, both versions are 10% off. Everybirdie should buy it and enjoy it! Though it's technically about dating pigeons, the romance part is G-rated all the way through, so it's really all in good fun.

Hatoful Boyfriend Overload! Overflow! EX
Hey all! For those who like pigeons (and those of you who don't, I am judging you right now), the official English version of Hatoful Boyfriend Overload! Overflow! EX is now available!
EX is a compilation of chapters 13-16 of the manga published on the web, as well as over twenty new pages of bonus material. The translations of the older chapters have been fixed up and edited for errors, phrasing, and what have you. There are also two new sidestory manga chapters, several pages of drawings, and info on the new web series. It's three dollars and I highly suggest you buy it, if at all possible. It's totally worth the price; the bonus material made me want to let out high-pitched squeals when I saw it.
As these chapters now have an official release, I've deleted the corresponding translations on this blog. Support Moa by buying this book! Read with updated translations! Yay! Merry Christmas!
Also, since I am working on Hatoful Boyfriend officially, do note that this does mean this series gets first priority if there's any work for me to do.

ughhh hato fandom why haven't you translated this yet :( I know I'm not the only person who pretends to know Japanese. whatever, I gave in. I'd really prefer not to translate the web series; I'm pretty busy and have other commitments, and I'm pretty sure a ton of references and puns would just go over my head. is anyone working on that? any word?

Hatoful Boyfriend manga: Volume 1, type compatibility chart
The flowchart at the beginning of the first print volume of the HatoKare manga that tells you who you would go best with. A cursory scan shows no other non-negligible new material that hasn't been translated, so with this, I'm done for the volume. /o/
I can't replicate the boxes very well without scanning, short of drawing them myself, so have a bunch of anchor tags that should lead you down the right route. 8| For the record, I got Nageki. Was heading straight down Ryouta path until it asked about overtime, l-lol.

The new chapter included in the print edition of the Hatoful Boyfriend manga, between the New Year's and Legumentine's chapters. No pictures, in part because I don't have a scanner and in part because you should support Moa if at all possible anyway. :3
Possibly one more translation from this book to go, of the "Type Identification Chart" at the beginning and any changes from the web version I can find, when I go through the book more thoroughly. That should be done in a couple days. The stuff on the cover and obi is basically summary/advertising stuff, so I probably won't go through it... no need.

Hatoful Boyfriend manga: Volume 1 extras
Finally got hold of my print copy of the manga, so have a translation of some of the bonus added bits. Note that I don't have a scanner, so there aren't any pictures, and I wouldn't include them anyway; I'd like to encourage anyone who can to buy the book.
I know the question corner has already been translated, so I won't be poking at that. I will do the new chapter and look for changes from the web version when I have some time, though due to Japan Expo this weekend, that might not be until Monday. In the meantime, have stuff from the cover and the illustrations between chapters.

The “turnover” in the last 4koma and the short manga is referring to job turnover.
Anghel refers to Nageki and Okosan by their fantasy world titles/names rather than the usual ones. Okosan’s is technically “Sacred Beast Great Pigeon”, but Moa has previously translated that full title as just “Great Pigeon”, so that’s what it is here.

Of note: each strip featuring Anghel has a title in kanji/kana (regular Japanese), with furigana over it (usually it tells you how something is supposed to be read). In this case, the furigana over the kanji isn’t a direct translation, but instead something in English. Therefore, the “title” is the English title, and the (stuff in parentheses) is the Japanese title.
