Sorry for the long wait on this; I got way distracted by FE:A things. That being said, a full patch of GakuPuri released a couple months ago, so this is the last route I'll translate. I don't have any plans at the moment to pick up DokiSaba; for now I'll concentrate on the Narita novels and editing Persona x Detective Naoto.

welcome to drama CD 4, which is honestly my favorite of the bunch. o/ it's pretty much 100% humor, after the seriousness and drama of CDs 2 and 3.  for the most part, the translations of the titles I took off Serene's Forest (same as the previous CDs); however, one thing to note is that the track titles on this CD are actual lines said in the CD itself, so I'll be changing a few of them to match with context.  thanks again to Amielleon for helping with a few of the sketchy parts~

Track 1: Just... Who Are You?

Hatoful Boyfriend on Steam!

You may or may not have heard, but Hatoful Boyfriend is getting an HD remake on Steam!  There is new content and an additional ending.  If you haven't played it, you really should.  Don't judge a bird by its plumage.

Hatoful Boyfriend is a parody of the dating sim genre, in which the human protagonist goes to an all-bird high school.  Bird puns abound.  It's a light-hearted romantic comedy...

...except it's really not.  The real plot is convoluted and goes far deeper and darker than is possible to explain without major spoilers, and by the time you discover that, dating these birds will be the last thing on your mind.

It's $10 for the regular edition and $15 for the collector's edition, and if you order before the release date of August 21, both versions are 10% off.  Everybirdie should buy it and enjoy it!  Though it's technically about dating pigeons, the romance part is G-rated all the way through, so it's really all in good fun.

This wraps up the second drama CD.  I do plan to do the fourth, but I have other projects to work on, so I shouldn’t start it for a while… keyword there being “should”. 8D;; we’ll see.

The short scene with Henry and Lucina was previously done by Amielleon here!  An interesting thing is that a couple minutes of this track are almost word-for-word from the game, with several adjustments to make up for happenings in the drama CD.  I decided to translate it directly rather than using the game’s official translation, and there’s at least one interesting change.  Those parts are marked by {curly braces}.  I can point out specific differences between the CD and the original Japanese script if anyone wants them as well.

in this track: you can laugh at my attempt to describe audio battles.  about the last minute is legit everyone’s battle quotes strung together.  I used the English versions of all of these since they’re more recognizable, save for the very last, since the “official” release didn’t actually do a direct translation of that line and it doesn’t make sense otherwise.

eta: the title of this track is one of those that's supremely annoying to translate.  literally it's something like "the resolution of those who stand at the top".  in this particular case, it's referring to the necessity of sometimes having to make difficult and cruel decisions in order to properly lead the people.

This story was an exercise in "creative romanizing", shall we call it.  The harder ones are listed at the end, in case anyone has any input on how they should be written or if there's any reference I missed.  On the other hand, I really enjoyed the formatting for one particular scene.

The last story in the book is 137 pages, or almost twice as long as this.  It won't be done until July at the earliest.

this route is absolutely full of intentional BL subtext. the writers must've had a field day. the second of the conversations where he invites you to talk to him was particularly, er, full of innuendo. 8D;; also the translations don't do justice to Shishido's voiced flustered stammering.

Hatoful Boyfriend Overload! Overflow! EX

Hey all! For those who like pigeons (and those of you who don't, I am judging you right now), the official English version of Hatoful Boyfriend Overload! Overflow! EX is now available!

EX is a compilation of chapters 13-16 of the manga published on the web, as well as over twenty new pages of bonus material. The translations of the older chapters have been fixed up and edited for errors, phrasing, and what have you. There are also two new sidestory manga chapters, several pages of drawings, and info on the new web series. It's three dollars and I highly suggest you buy it, if at all possible. It's totally worth the price; the bonus material made me want to let out high-pitched squeals when I saw it.

As these chapters now have an official release, I've deleted the corresponding translations on this blog. Support Moa by buying this book! Read with updated translations! Yay! Merry Christmas!

Also, since I am working on Hatoful Boyfriend officially, do note that this does mean this series gets first priority if there's any work for me to do.

Yanagi uses a lot of idioms and quotes. My kneejerk reaction is to stick them into Google and find if there's an accepted English translation for them. 8|b There's a source given if it tends more toward "translation" than "commonly used idiom". Also, note that I did my best for all the finance talk, but economics was questionably my least favorite class and I can't for the life of me tell you the difference between the terms they use.
